B:K, pseudonym of Oriol Garreta, is an artist born in 1999 in the Catalan Pyrenees. He started painting murals in 2018, self-taught and combining it with his university studies in 3D Animation and visual effects at the Ramon Llull University Barcelona.
With the arrival of covid-19 he began to carry out oil paintings, leaving aside drawing and spray, and focusing exclusively on color, brushwork and painting. Since 2021, in his figurative murals made with plastic paint, he instinctively improvises from the sketch, where he gives it a believable finish, but with a touch of surrealism or “aura” that distances it from reality. All of this surprises the viewer wherever he paints because he never knows what the next mural will look like, but he can be recognized by the themes he deals with in his works.
The main themes of his work are often what he calls “love in filth”, finding beauty in what at first glance seems dirty, ugly and overburdened. It produces images of great visual impact where we always find some “magical” character or component that catches our attention.
As he lives surrounded by mountains and nature, his palette includes earthy and desaturated colors, this allows him to paint in places surrounded by nature where the works are integrated into the environment.
